Excuse the Mess Recommends: The Shouting Matches

We are big Justin Vernon fans in our house. Of course we love his main project Bon Iver, but we’ve also come to enjoy his other bands such as Gayngs, Volcano Choir and Deyarmond Edison, not to mention the many collaborations he’s been apart of over the years. Now with Bon Iver on a bit of break Vernon has had time to bring new life to an old project. The band is called, The Shouting Matches and along with Vernon is made up of Brian Moen of Peter Wolf Crier and Phil Cook of Megafaun. If you’re familiar with Vernon’s other work, The Shouting Matches are certainly a departure, but no less enjoyable. They mix blues, garage rock, soul, and country into a sound that is pure fun to listen to. If you’re are a fan of Justin Vernon or the likes of The Black Keys, The White Stripes, or Justin Townes Earle then you’re going to love The Shouting Matches! Listen to their song “Avery Hill” below from their debut album, Grownass Man.
